Fried Seafoodpalooza

Readers: I've become such an ineffectual food blogger that all I can manage is to upload photos and tack the suffix "-palooza" to the end of whatever dish I've just consumed in mass quantities. I should probably be a tad more embarrassed about this, but the beauty of the law is that it robs one of creativity and originality (in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else has already said this). Nevertheless, I persist with this post in case you ever find yourself on the Eastern Shore.

• I'm still pretty excited about the fried rockfish and fried clams we had this weekend at Wild Country Seafood in Eastport, right outside of Annapolis. The rockfish, my particular favorite, appeared in the form of fresh, meaty nuggets that we dusted with Old Bay seasoning as we idled languidly in the steamy mid-Atlantic heat:

• Later that night, we enjoyed fantastic fried oysters, a surprisingly simple and tasty spinach salad with goat cheese and lump crab meat, and crab soup at Jimmie & Sook's. The service detracted from the excellent food, however. I don't know if I would come back here given how overwhelmed and poorly prepared the staff was, but the spinach salad makes a compelling case for return.
