I realize two posts in one month may seem like overkill, but insomnia will do that to a person. Had fantastic time and dinners (yes, plural) tonight with two very good and totally absurd friends from law school. The three of us headed to Masa 14 for Latin/Asian tapas and were delighted with nearly everything we ordered (a very pleasant surprise considering we ordered nearly everything):
-fried tofu with a sweet-and-spicy sauce;
-roasted edamame;
-yucca fries with chimichurri and lime aioli dipping sauce (so good we ordered another);
-wild mushroom flatbread;
-bulgogi sopes;
-pork riblets (in a word, awesome);
-green curry chicken;
-baby octopus (proving once again that baby everything tastes better);
-black cod with pickled onions; and
-three somewhat forgettable desserts.
All this, and A was still hungry a few hours later after several post-prandial drinks at a dive bar on U Street, so off we went for a second meal of nachos and taquitos. You're surprised to learn, I'm sure, that my distended abdomen has made sleep rather elusive.
