Casa Mono, when you charge upwards of $15 for small plates, is it too much to ask that you advise diners when they order the side of asparagus that the guinea hen with rhubarb mostaza dish they also ordered comes atop a heaping bed of asparagus? Excess asparagus not being exactly ideal when dining à deux and all.
My indecorous comments aside, the dishes were surprisingly delicious, considering my one prior visit in 2005 found salt to be the unifying theme that night. The razor clams a la plancha had a zesty garlicky taste, the aforementioned guinea hen was crispy and juicy and nicely balanced the tartness of the rhubarb, and the best dish of the evening, the piquillo peppers with oxtails, was simply comfort in a ramekin. So while the service was generally indifferent, the food turned out to be quite good, just pricey and asparagus-y.
